Here are some of the more common dental emergencies we see with patients in Stonebridge:
This type of emergency can be very upsetting. If you’ve sustained any facial or bodily injuries, visit A&E first.
If you’ve found the tooth, handle it carefully by the crown (top), not the roots. Keep it in your mouth or place it in a small container of cold milk while waiting to see the emergency dentist.
Timing is critical — call us immediately, as this type of dental emergency is time-sensitive and may allow us to save the tooth.
If you still have the filling, bring it with you to your appointment.
In the meantime:
Rinse your mouth gently with warm salty water.
Take paracetamol if you’re in pain.
Avoid hot or cold foods and drinks.
Try to chew on the opposite side of your mouth.
If your crown breaks, rinse your mouth in warm salty water to keep the area clean. You can take paracetamol to relieve pain and should eat soft foods only.
Avoid hot or sugary drinks, and chewing on the affected side. If you have the broken pieces of the crown, bring them with you. The dentist may be able to repair it or recommend a replacement.
Your emergency dental treatment will depend on the type of issue, but our top priority will always be to relieve any pain or discomfort.
Our kind and caring team will take great care of you during your visit.
Depending on the situation, we may:
Perform an urgent procedure immediately
Carry out a temporary repair
Schedule a follow-up appointment for a full treatment plan
